MLP

Medical-legal partnership is a patient care model that integrates legal professionals into the health care setting to provide holistic, integrated care to low income patients who are most impacted by health injustices and inequities.

MLP lawyers work side-by-side with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other support staff to provide wrap around services to help improve patient health. When a patient faces complex social issues—like wrongful eviction or intimate partner violence— lawyers can provide crucial legal services to prevent harmful health outcomes.

MLPs aim to transform health care by helping to train clinicians to identify and work with lawyers and social work to address those health harming social and legal issues with a goal of providing person-centered, trauma-informed, holistic care.
